David Goudie says heâs a man of God, but heâs gone from the pulpit to a culprit overnight. Heâs now an inmate at the Sacramento County Jail, where heâs expected to have a lot of time to pray for forgiveness if found guilty.
âHe called himself a soldier of the Lord,â roommate, and now victim, David Mock said.
His roommate, and friend, is accused of breaking the law, as well as one of Godâs commandments, love thy neighbor.
âI saw an object just coming towards me, and it was a sword,â said Mock.
Mock says Goudie, who he shared a home with for four months, viciously attacked him with a 4-foot sword Thursday.
âThe sword went through my hand and through my groin, through my privates,â said Mock.
Before the attack, Mock says Goudie went on a 24-hour booze binge, allegedly threatening to hurt and kill him.
Mock says he called police three times that day. At one point, he locked himself in his room, waiting hours before police arrived.
âHeâs a good guy, he was a good guy,â he said.
Trying to make sense of it all, Mock says Goudie is a religious man and the brains behind Power Christianity, an online ministry.
âShortly after moving in, I realized it was much more of a radical Christianity,â said Mock.
Something made Goudie snap recently, Mock says.
For the self-proclaimed minister, the only sermons will come from his cell, at least for now.
âIt was sick, or something happened,â said Mock. âIt wasnât him, you know?â
Goudie is facing a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. Doctors arenât sure if Mockâs hand will fully recover.
